FT. SAM HOUSTON OUADRANGLE CLOCK TOWER

Clock Restoration

The tower was originally built to house a water tank. The clock was added later. There are 101 steps from the ground to the small balconies. Notice small rectangluar windows that follow the spiral staircase and furnish light so you can see the steps. Height to the clock room is 120 feet...a long climb with a heavy tool box. The clock mechanism sits right behing the glass dials which are illuminated at night. The hour strike bell is located in the little cupola as seen in the first photo. Present status of the clock is unknown.
